As of November 17, in Ukraine there were 46 sugar mills, which produced about 1.5 million tons of sugar, which is enough for domestic consumption. About it reports a press-service of Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine.
In the 2017/2018 marketing year, the expected sugar production of around 2 million t (as in the previous period). Given the domestic demand of 1.49 mln tonnes and carry-over stocks at 170 million tonnes, the export potential of sugar is estimated at 460 thousand tons.
In the past marketing period Ukraine exported 770 thousand tons of sugar. The main buyers were Sri Lanka (14%), Georgia (7%), Turkey (6%) and Libya (6%).
The quota for supply of sugar to the EU size 20,07 kt was used in full in February 2017.
In Ukraine continues the sugar beet harvest is already collected 13.5 million tonnes of 297 thousand hectares (93% from a predictable collection of 318 thousand hectares) with the average yield of 454 kg/ha.
Earlier it was reported that the export of Ukrainian sugar for three quarters of 2017 increased compared to the same period last year by 2.7 times.
