Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip concerned about the recent information about Ukraine’s plans to construct six hydroelectric power plants on the Nistru river. About it reports UKRINFORM with reference to the press service of the government of Moldova.
“The Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed concern in connection with the appeared information about the fact that Ukraine plans to build six new hydroelectric power plants on the Nistru river, above Novodnestrovsk hydropower site. According to environmentalists, the construction of these stations can pose a serious threat to the environment”, – noted in the government of Moldova.
In this regard, Prime Minister of the neighboring Republic stressed that the government received complaints from non-governmental organizations and the academic community regarding the negative impact on the ecological state of the Dniester river basin hydropower complex in Novodnestrovsk.

The head of the Moldovan government ordered to establish a working interagency group which will develop a specific Plan of action to resolve the situation.
Along with this will be studied all the bilateral and international agreements on this issue, which are part of Moldova and Ukraine and the Association Agreement Moldova-EU and EU-Ukraine.
