The European elk is included in the Red book of Ukraine. Now the hunt is punishable by law. About this on his page in Facebook wrote the Minister of ecology and natural resources of Ostap, Semerak.
“The Ministry of justice in the last days of December registered the order of Ministry of amendments to the List of animals which are brought in the Red book of Ukraine. Literally just got ostrovany document. From now on, the European moose in Ukraine relates to endangered animals and attention! hunting for him is punishable by law,” wrote Semerak.
The Minister noted that this decision does not remove from the agenda in Ukraine, the problem of poaching. A decrease in the manifestations of this phenomenon Semerak called one of the priority challenges in 2018.
“Mean and possible revision of the fines and the elimination of outdated inefficient system of environmental supervision and control, which is a corrupt relic of the past and the need to eliminate, instead of having to do injections in the prosthesis. This is the topic of other orders and decisions”, – wrote the Minister.
From February 3, 2017 Ukraine, a ban was imposed on hunting elk. The moratorium was intended to operate for the next 25 years. Semerak said that with the adoption of the moratorium “late 20-30 years”.
In may 2017, the Ministry of ecology and natural resources appealed to the National Commission on the red book on the question of adding moose to endangered species.
However, in October Semerak signed and agreed to by the Ministry of agrarian policy and the Ministry of ecology and natural resources the limit on shooting 160 species of elk.
