Ukrzaliznytsia is considering three options for upgrading the fleet of suburban trains, two of which relate to cooperation with Germany. This was during an online interview at the press center said acting Chairman of the management Board of ULTRASONIC Evgeny Kravtsov.

According to him, Ukrzaliznytsia can obtain b/y trains are diesel trains from Germany for further modernization under the conditions of work in Ukraine, or to modernize the Ukrainian compositions by its own production facilities.

He stressed that the priority option is obtaining technology: “is Not the acquisition and the receipt. It is better to look for ways to get without charge, at least in the database for used machinery European colleagues. The precedents are there. Now it’s part of commercial negotiations.”

Costing each of the projects close to completion, said Kravtsov. According to preliminary calculations, the modernization of used German trains is the most expensive project of the electrification of the railway in Germany. In addition, German transport is necessary to replace the trucks because of the difference in track width.

“We have the example of the modernization of our rolling stock in the factory belonging to Ukrainian Railways. He proved to be quite successful. The cost is not high, about 40 million UAH for 8-10 wagon composition. German trains can be more expensive,” – said Kravtsov.

At the same time, modernization of German diesel trains and Ukrainian trains are likely to be comparable in cost.
