The party United Russia supported Vladimir Putin’s decision on self-nomination in the elections in 2018. This was stated by the Prime Minister and party leader Dmitry Medvedev at a Congress of United Russia, RIA Novosti reported.
“United Russia would be happy to nominate Vladimir Putin as its candidate for the presidency. … But as a responsible political force, we understand that in the current situation, Mr Putin is right to draw the broad strata of citizens outside of the party context. And we welcome his decision to self-promotion”, – said Medvedev.
According to him, the party “will give Putin all the necessary support”.
About his intention to run besides Putin also declared Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR), the Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov, head of the “Yabloko” Grigory Yavlinsky, the Commissioner for entrepreneurs ‘ rights Boris Titov and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak.
