Unleashed: Afghanistan bombed harder than the last 7 years
U.S. military aircraft bombed positions of suspected jihadists and jihadists in Afghanistan with a zeal which is not seen with the peak activity of the U.S. troops in the country in 2010. It is the result of the August announcement by the head of the White house Donald trump’s new “Afghan strategy” is largely giving a free military hand and extend the list of targets, says Reuters.
In September, the Agency says, the United States air force dropped in this country, 751 bomb, which is significantly more than in the last month of summer (503). For the last seven years – the maximum for the month.
“This growth can be attributed to the presidential proactive strategy against extremist groups,” – said in a monthly summary of the U.S. air force.

16 years ago, after the terrorist attacks of September 11, the US army entered Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban administration and members of the terrorist network al-Qaeda. At the end of 2014 to replace the armed forces of the international coalition in the country came to non-combat operation Resolute Support Alliance (Strong support).
Government forces now control about 60% of Afghanistan (of the country’s 407 districts), the Taliban and other Islamist groups – about 10% (11 of the occupied areas and 34 under their strong influence). Almost a third of the territory – 30% – fighting, or these areas are simply “abandoned” by the parties to the conflict. About 3 million people live in the territories controlled by the Islamists (approximately 10 of the population), 21 million – under the authority of the government.
In August 2017, trump said that Washington changes strategy in Afghanistan: he promised to maintain the presence of American troops in the country, departing from the previous policy of non-interference. NATO supported the initiative. Until the election in 2016 candidate trump has called for a full withdrawal of troops from that country.
The Supreme command of the Pentagon calls the current situation in Afghanistan “blind” and asks for more troops to turn the tide in their favor.
