The world’s largest automaker, Volkswagen promises to invest billions of dollars in the development of new electric vehicles. The automaker plans to introduce in less than 15 years of elektroversiya all of its models, reports the BBC.

The German company intends to invest over 20 billion euros in the development of electric cars, hoping to compete with Tesla and other manufacturers of electric vehicles, creating a mass market of electric vehicles.

“Companies like Volkswagen, is supposed to lead and not to trail behind,” he said, announcing the company’s plans ahead of the Frankfurt motor show, Volkswagen CEO Matthias Mueller.

The German firm is planning to 2025 to offer 80 new electric cars.
