The special representative of the US state Department in Ukraine Kurt Volker believes that Ukraine is not yet ready to join NATO, and the Alliance is not ready now. This opinion, Walker said in an interview Direct.

“I respect Ukraine, but do not believe that Ukraine is ready to join NATO, and NATO is ready to take her to the situation that is now” – he said.

The decision on accession to NATO remains for the Ukrainian side, said the special representative.

“Both the US and the EU, and Russia must understand that Ukraine is an independent country, and indeed nobody can say that Ukraine will become a NATO member. It is completely the decision of Ukraine. But this does not mean that Ukraine is close to getting an invitation to NATO”, – he said.
